#1 Dial Info

The dial on the left is the W.E. #1 dial with the rotating porcelain plate. The dial on the right is most likely the W.E. #2 dial. The note on the right suggests their use and it's probably fair to assume that the #1 dial was used on the first dial deskstands (50AL), most likely before the metro or multiple exchange dial was needed. It is also likely that the #1 dial on the left was used in W.E. PBX systems converted to automatic and on non W.E. equipment when the Bell System acquired independent phone companies and had to use in place equipment.
